Loving and Serving Others

John 13: 34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
  • Why is love the mark of a disciple?
1 John 3: 16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
  • In what ways does the Lord want us to lay down our lives?
1 John 4: 7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
  • Verse 7 says, “let us love one another.” What must you do to obey this command?
Philippians 2: 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
  • How can you obey this command?
1 Peter 4:10 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.
  • What gift has God given you? Are you using it to serve others?
1 Thessalonians 5: 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
  • How can you build others up? Are you doing it?
Hebrews 10: 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
  • How can you spur others on to love and good deeds?
  • What is the importance of meeting together?
